Prayer Needs

We update this section regularly. Please check back often so that you’ll be able to join us in prayer over current situations and circumstances. We ask that you would help “hold the ropes” of our ministry by, “Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit…and for me…that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel”    (Eph. 618-19).

Current

Pray…

 (Last updated 1/18/2008)

Ø    For us as we begin a six-week Hausa language school on 1-14. Hausa is the primary language of Central/Northern Nigeria and will be crucial to know as we minister in the rural areas.

Ø   That we'll be able to obtain a vehicle soon. We're looking for a truck that can handle the rougher roads in the bush, as well as be a reliable means of transportation around the city.

Ø    For us as we seek to travel into the rural village areas around Jos over the next couple of months. We want to familiarize ourselves with these  areas and their spiritual needs as we look towards longer-term ministry.

Ø     As we are still looking for a roommate. We have an extra room and need someone who can stay at the house during times that we'll be traveling overnight.

Long Term / Ongoing

Pray…

Ø     For us as we work out the details of the ministry vision God has laid upon our hearts. Over the course of 2008 as we learn Hausa, we also plan to use the time to find a suitable location for establishing a mission station and seek out Nigerian Believers to be involved in the ministry.

Ø     For the unreached of Nigeria. Statistics state that 10% of Nigerians practice animism (paganism) and over 40% are Muslims. The reality is that many professing Christians also practice paganism to varying degrees. Some areas of Nigeria are saturated with church buildings, while others, particularly rural settings, are still yet to have any Believers in their midst.

Ø    For the church in Nigeria. It has long been established in southern Nigeria. However, nominalism within the church is prevalent and there is a rapidly growing shift in some denominations away from doctrinal soundness, most especially evident in the over-emphasis on spiritual gifts and "prosperity" teachings. Pray that the church will practice holiness, be devoted to prayer, accurately divide the Word, and carry the Gospel to the lost

Ø      For Nigeria's influence on Africa and the world. Being the most populated country in Africa and one often looked towards as an example, the Nigerian church has the potential to influence all of Africa for Christianity. And currently, Nigerian missionaries minister in countries all over the world.
